Two strangers going to London
Hello all happy people,
It just so happens, that Rasmus (11 year old son) and I are going to London for our summer holiday this year. We will arrive Monday 18. of July in Stansted airport and will be staying for two days in Great Halingbury Manor in Bishop's Stortford. From Wednesday 20. - 25. of July we will be staying in Crown Hyde Park Hotel, 10-11 Craven Terrace, LondonW2 3QD (whatever that means...) From 25. of July you will again be able to enjoy my splendid company on World of Warcraft.
If any of you live near London and would fancy saying hi and maybe drink a bear or something with us, maybe we could arrange something.
Maybe I'll see you soon
regards Marlene

Coming to london
I'm around that weekend I think - and it's always easy to lure me out of the house with the promise of beer

I, like Si, can often be persuaded out for a beer at the weekend...

Re: Two strangers going to London
I guess most of you guys work during the week, so I would suggest, that we go out for a beer/coffee or whatever .... on Saturday 23. of July, I was kind of hoping that some of you could recommend a place, since I don't know my way around in London (haven't been there for 25 years ).
See you soon

Re: Two strangers going to London
Was kinda assuming Saturday already! ;-)
Sure you'll get loads of recommendations. On our second ever PE gathering, we met at Westminster and caught the boat down to Kew Gardens - that was pretty fun for the day, but some might find it a little pricey (about £14/adult for Kew [kids are free], and £18 return for the boat [£9 for kids]). If you get a nice day, it's great, and seeing London by river is something I'd like to do again :-)

Re: Two strangers going to London
I think it's a splendid idea with that boat trip to Kew Garden, so now we just need to set a time for the "event" and a plan B perhaps... my mobile phone number is +45 25795370.

Re: Two strangers going to London
Well a boat timetable would come in handy, so ....
OUTBOUND
1030 -> 1200
1115 -> 1245
1230 -> 1400
RETURN
1530 -> 1700
1630 -> 1800
1730 -> 1830 (?)
(Don't believe that last one, reckon it's supposed to get back to Westminster at 1900).
I'd suggest catching the 1230 outbound and 1730 return. There's a Tesco's express nearby where you can grab something for lunch, then eat on the boat. Then when we get back to Westminster, we can easily find something to eat for anyone who fancies.
Meet at Westminster at 12pm?

Re: Two strangers going to London
Okay since no-one's offered any alternatives ...
Meet at 12pm, on the riverfront at Westminster pier. Just a little bit down-river there's some benches and stairs heading up to the road - that's where you'll find me. Either pick up or bring some lunch and we can eat on the boat.
If anyone's meeting us at Kew, we'll get there about 2pm.
We'll catch the 1730 boat back, which should get us back to Westminster around 7pm. From there it's dead easy to find somewhere to eat for anyone who wants to stick around some more.
When I get on tonight I'll create a calendar entry in-game and include my mobile number for those who don't already have it.
See you Saturday!
Alie
P.S. Bring a jacket / umbrella! The weather forecast is showers atm, which means anything from we won't see a cloud all day to we'll get rained on several times throughout the day. Good ol' English weather!

Re: Two strangers going to London
I'm not going to be able to make the full afternoon due to other commitments but would love to say 'hello' - so can i suggest a slight variation to the plan?
How about we meet in a bar / cafe so we can have a drink while people accumulate (Tattershall Castle if it's sunny perhaps...) then once everyone is together head to the pier - that way i could meet you all for a drink as you assemble and wave you off on the boat?

Re: Two strangers going to London
Probably a bit late for people to see this, but what time is anyone likely to get to the tattershall castle (assuming that's where we're going to meet first)?
